For Trees Merx, being a designer means solving problems by closely observing the world around her and seeing what is needed. To train this, she enjoys developing small inventions that make everyday life easier and exploring a wide range of making techniques.
Her work spans playful, exploratory projects that allow her to experiment with exciting materials through a hands-on process, such as crafting experimental lenses that create light projections or designing distinctive furniture pieces.
Many of her projects are rooted in historical research, drawing on past techniques and references to inform contemporary design.
